UUROOSTER : 09:00-17:00 (onthaal van de deelnemers vanaf 08:30)
DOELPUBLIEK : Opleiding voor dierenartsen met of zonder ervaring in de echografie, met of zonder echografie-toestel
Gedurende de cursusweekends zal een echo toestel te uwer beschikking zijn. Voor personen die thuis geen echotoestel bezitten bestaat de mogelijkheid om een toestel te huren voor gebruik in eigen praktijk gedurende de periode van de opleiding (april tot oktober).

DIDACTISCH MATERIAAL : 4 echotoestellen en 4-6 “verondersteld” gezonde honden

DOELSTELLINGEN :
Naargelang de vordering van de opleiding zijn de deelnemers in staat om

• een compleet en systematisch echografisch onderzoek te realiseren waarbij ze het geheel van de buikholte en de buikorganen onderzoeken
• de verschillende anatomische structuren die men tegenkomt tijdens een abdominale echografie te herkennen
• beelden te maken in de verschillende richtingen van ieder onderzocht orgaan
• het normale aspect van de anatomische echografische structuren te herkennen
• een afwijking die tijdens het echografisch onderzoek wordt vastgesteld op een systematische manier te analyseren met het doel om een differentiaal diagnose op te kunnen stellen
• de methode/aanpak te kennen die gevolgd zou moeten worden bij detectie van uitbreiding van een neoplasie
• de limieten te kennen van een abdominale echografie
• een gestructureerd verslag te kunnen opmaken van een abdominale echografie

Dr Giovanna Bassu
DipECAR

Graduated from the veterinary school of Sassary (Sardegna, Italy). She spent her last year of study in the university of Liège at the department of small animal reproduction. She also did in Liège (1999-2000) an internship in farm animals. Then she joined Maisons Alfort (Paris-France) where she followed, after 1 year of practice, a residency in Small Animal Reproduction at the Veterinary School of Alfort. At the end of the Residency she joined another time Liège to work in the department of Small Animal Reproduction. Diplomate at the European College of Animal Reproduction since 2005, she works now in a private clinic in Brussels and in the laboratory of human andrology at Brugmann University Hospital.

Dr Elke Schreurs
DipECVDI

Elke Schreurs graduated from the veterinary school of Ghent in 2003. She followed the rotating internship in Small Animal Veterinay Medicine in Ghent. Afterwards, in 2004, she started the residency of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI). This allowed her to attend conferences and to do several externships at other veterinary clinics and faculties. In 2009 she obtained the diploma of the ECVDI.
Since 2008 she has been working as an imager in a private centre for veterinary medical imaging in Brussels and in a private practice for small animal medicine in Ghent.

Dr Barbara Vandevelde
DipECVDI

Barbara graduated as veterinarian in 1999 at the university of Ghent in Belgium. After graduation she completed an internship at the Small Animal Clinic of the University of Bern in Switzerland, where she developed a great interest in medical imaging. In October 2000 she started her residency in Veterinary Medical Imaging at the University of Ghent and passed the exam of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) in 2007. During her residency she did several externships and courses at different clinics in England and Switzerland such as The Animal Health Trust in Newmarket and The Royal College in London. Barbara did her research project on ultrasonography of the shoulder of the dog and evaluation of OCD lesions with ultrasound. After working an extra year at the university, she started to work in private practice. Currently she works at several referral clinics in Belgium and the Netherlands. OBJECTIFS :
A l’issue de cet enseignement, les vétérinaires seront capables de :

• réaliser un examen échographique complet et systématique en examinant l’ensemble de la cavité abdominale et des organes abdominaux
• reconnaître les différentes structures anatomiques rencontrées lors d’un examen échographique abdominal
• réaliser des images dans les différents plans de chaque organe examiné
• reconnaître l’aspect normal des structures anatomiques abdominales
• analyser de façon systématique une anomalie échographique rencontrée lors d’un examen échographique afin d’émettre des hypothèses de diagnostics différentiels
• connaitre la démarche à suivre lors de bilan d’extension de néoplasie par échographie abdominale
• connaitre les limites d’un examen échographique abdominal
• rédiger un rapport structuré d'un examen échographique abdominal

Dr Géraldine Bolen
DipECVDI

Graduated as Doctor in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Liège in 2001. After an internship in Small Animal Clinique of the University of Liège, Géraldine joined the Diagnostic Imaging Section of the same institution. She obtained a diploma (diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies en Sciences Vétérinaires) in 2006 by research in MRI of the equine feet. She completed also a 3-year residency program in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging in Liège between 2004 and 2007. During this period, she did several externships in different universities of Switzerland, United States and England. In 2008, she was awarded, after examination, by the European Diploma in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging by the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (DipECVDI). She defended her PhD thesis “Contribution to the study of Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the equine foot: effects on the image of isolated limbs preservation, of magnetic field, of sequences and of section planes.” in september 2009. She is now senior lecturer in Diagnostic Imaging Section of the University of Liège.

 

Dr Valeria Busoni
DipECVDI

Born in Italy in 1969, Valeria graduated in Veterinary Medicine in Pisa in 1993. After a few months in the UK, she moved to France to train at the Equine Clinic of Alfort under the supervision of Professor Denoix. At the Veterinary School of Maisons Alfort she entered a residency program in diagnostic imaging under the supervision of Professor Begon. She obtained the Diploma of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging in 1999. In 2004 she finished a PhD with a thesis on comparative imaging of the equine podotrochlear apparatus at the University of Liège (Belgium).

At the moment Valeria lives in Belgium with her partner Christophe and her little daughter Emma and she works as senior clinician at the Imaging Service of the Veterinary Faculty of Liège. Her main professional interests are equine ultrasonography and small animal abdominal ultrasound. Her main hobbies are travelling, yoga and hiking.

Valeria has been invited speaker in several international congresses. She is author of several publications in peer-reviewed journals, author of a book on small animal abdominal ultrasonography, author of a chapter on equine radiology in the 5th edition of “Veterinary radiology” edited by D.Thrall and co-author of the chapter “Imaging: ultrasonography of joints and synovia” in the book “Current techniques in equine surgery and lameness”.

• Savoir effectuer les réglages de base d’un échographe en vue d’un examen échocardiographique
• Connaître les différences et applications des différents modes échographiques
• Reproduire les coupes échographiques de référence dans les différents modes

• Reconnaître les principales cardiopathies identifiables à l’échocardiographie
• Connaître les principales différences échocardiographiques entre l’espèce féline et canine
